Lord Save Us From Your Followers!

Dan Merchant

You might not recognize the name, or the face but you’ve probably seen his work. Dan Merchant is an Emmy Award winning writer and filmmaker. His most recent project is a documentary, and companion book titled, Lord Save Us From Your Followers. While I haven’t seen the documentary (yet) I have read the book. Its an honest and personal look at his journey as “Bumper Sticker Man” probing for an answer to the question, why is the Gospel of love dividing America.

Dan and I exchanged a few emails and he was very complimentary of my avatar. He hinted around that he might commission me to illustrate him after he sold enough books. I decided not to wait and surprised him with this.

Bright Ideas

Bright Ideas

MiniSpace is hosting a design competition on their website in honor of the new Mini E, an all electric Mini Cooper. Hence the theme “electrified”. My entry is above. To check it out along with all of the other really great designs follow this link. While you’re there poke around the site a little. It’s really cool and a great place for Mini enthusiasts and artists of all kinds. It’s a great place to meet creative people and showcase talent.

Unyielding moments create ingenious ideas

While perusing the Christmas card isle I noticed they were stocked full of pretty cards featuring Mary and Joseph en-route to Bethlehem. The star is shining bright. There’s peace in the air. Then it hit me, if donkeys are notoriously stubborn, wouldn’t this be more like it?

To all a very Merry Christmas, and happy new year!

Pandora poster contest

You get what you give-Pandora poster contest

If you’re not familiar with Pandora then I suggest you become acquainted. You tell Pandora a song or artist you like and they only play music similar in style. You can set up multiple “stations”, one for every mood.

They’re currently taking submissions for their second annual poster contest to support Global Giving. Above is my entry. If you like it, you can vote here. While you’re there be sure to check out all the other great entries.

The Dork Knight

The Dork KnightLike so  many other people, I braved the opening weekend of the premier of the latest installment of the new Batman movies, “The Dark Knight”. Actually it was part of my birthday celebration. Since the kids, my wife and I rarely get out alone. So, as a gift, my wife arranged for a sitter and it was off to the theater (which was packed by the way). It was good, we really enjoyed it. But you’re not here for a movie review. That’s not my forte, and besides I’m sorta biased as to the real Batman, yours truly. No other actor has been able to capture the true essence of the dark Knight like myself. Watching the movie brought me back to my childhood days of dressing up in my plastic Batman costume from Halloween and jumping off all the furniture in the house. I was “The DORK Knight”.
